Learn how to lead a regular running group with Run In England. The scheme aims to give everyone an opportunity to get active and begin running for fun and fitness.
East Hampshire District Council's Get Active team and Sport England are looking to recruit people from the area who would like to set up Run In England beginners’ groups in their local community.
The key message from Run In England is get fit while having fun and making new friends in a safe, friendly environment. Running is an accessible way of keeping active and available for everyone, no matter their ability.
East Hampshire District Council and Sport England would like to create more groups around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and are able to offer candidates a £90 reimbursement towards the Run in England Group Leader award.
Louise Christie, EHDC Active Lifestyle Co-ordinator, said: “To be a Run In England Leader you will need plenty of enthusiasm, be able to support others, have a bit of free time and some running experience."
“Our leaders are as varied as our members. They are all ages, paces, sizes, shapes, abilities and experience and can be volunteers, self-employed, or employed.”
A training course, run by England Athletics, provides a qualification, leader’s licence and insurance. The next course is on Sunday 7 November 2010 at Connaught Leisure Centre in Aldershot. If you can't make this one but a really keen to get involved other courses are available up and down the country. Click here
