New Chairobics class started in Petersfield

All welcome to new Chairobics in Petersfield.
Older people in Petersfield can improve their strength and balance with a new chairobics class.
The session, at Gloucester Court , Lyndum Road , gives older people a simple and easy-to-manage workout while sitting.
Run by a trained instructor the exercises focus on improving suppleness in joints, strengthening muscles and building balance. The workout, paid for by £1,000 contributions from East Hampshire District Council and Drum Housing, helps to maintain mobility, helps with fall prevention and brings the feel good factor that comes with exercise.
East Hampshire District Councillor Judy Onslow said: “It’s so important for people of any age to keep active as it does prolong life and helps you to continue living independently."
This is the second chairobics class to be set up in Petersfield, with the first run in Siward House. There are openings for people that live in the vicinity to join either class. Part of the funding for this project has come from Drum Housing Association which offers local community and voluntary groups help in funding projects that clearly demonstrate benefits to both its residents and the wider community.
If your local group could use help in this way find out more by contacting the Community Involvement Team at Drum Housing on 01730 403200 or email tenantparticipation@drumhsg.co.uk or go to the website www.drumhsg.co.uk
