The Run In England scheme has been set up to give everyone an opportunity to get active and begin running for fun and fitness. East Hampshire District Council and Sport England are looking to recruit people from the area who would like to set up Run In England beginners’ groups in their local community.

The training course is run by England Athletics and provides a qualification, leader’s licence and insurance. The next course is on Thursday 16 December 2010 at Havant College.

Run In England members enjoy getting fit while having fun and making new friends in a safe, friendly environment. Running is made accessible and available for everyone, no matter their ability.

Get Active East Hampshire is supporting England Athletics in it's bid to create more groups around Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Those candidates who are interested can claim the full £90 reimbursement against the cost of the Run in England Group Leader award.

Louise Christie, EHDC Active Lifestyle Co-ordinator, said: “To be a Run In England Leader the main ingredients you need are enthusiasm, being supportive of others, a bit of free time and some running experience. Our leaders are as varied as our members. They are all ages, paces, sizes, shapes, abilities and experience and can be volunteers, self employed, or employed.”
